Rush simply launched a career-spanning 50-track anthology assortment. R50 traces the band’s profession from their debut single in 1973 to their final efficiency in 2015. The large assortment is out now by way of UMe/Mercury and Anthem Data.

“‘Limelight’ was one of the most requested Rush songs from my fans. I think I avoided covering it for a while because it’s tricky—there’s no steady BPM, and I don’t think Rush used a click track when recording it. That makes it tough for a drummer trying to lay a new track over the original without flamming,” Cohen mentioned. “When I finally decided to learn it, I was hesitant at first, especially because of some of the more exposed fills—those are tough to nail perfectly on top of Neil Peart’s playing.”

“What I love most about Neil’s drumming is how composed it is. Every part he plays feels intentional—nothing is just filler. His drumming isn’t just about keeping time; it’s part of the storytelling in Rush’s music,” she mentioned. “His fills are almost melodic, and he finds ways to make even the most complex parts sound smooth and natural. Plus, the way he evolves within a song, constantly shifting dynamics and textures, makes his drumming feel like a journey.”

In an Instagram submit, Cohen additionally wrote of one other private reference to Peart. “Fun fact both Neil and myself loved motorcycles. He traveled tens of thousands of miles by motorcycle, often between Rush tour stops,” she mentioned. “And I used to love to ride back in Israel, my dad was a driving instructor before his passing, my house had an attached garage with lots of 500cc motorcycles which I rode often! Thinking back, it really wasn’t super safe riding on the freeway with a tank top and a helmet a few sizes bigger… But it WAS fun.”

Take heed to the career-spanning Rush R50 anthology now.
