What began as private tribute finally morphed into an epic collaboration for Andrew Dum, whose new single with Eran Hersh and Alina Eremia, “Changes,” is out now.
Dum says he was deeply impressed by Chris Lake’s timeless monitor “Changes,” which the home music celebrity launched over 20 years in the past alongside Laura V. His strategy reimagines the monitor with the kind of textured, hypnotic Afro-house grooves that would enliven any moonlit dancefloor.
Dum, whose work has been supported by RÜFÜS DU SOL, Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Pete Tong and extra, characterised the rework as a milestone in his profession.
“This remix of ‘Changes’ means a lot to me,” he stated. “From the first moment I started working on it, I felt something. It brought back a wave of emotion I didn’t expect, like reconnecting with a part of myself. Working with Eran Hersh was a natural flow, and when Alina recorded the vocals, the whole track lit up. It became more than just a remix. It became a feeling.”
Hersh, a chart-topping producer of melodic home and Afrobeats, stated he was blow away when he first heard Dum’s demo. That rings very true with Eremia’s spellbinding vocals, which remodel the document into one thing genuinely compelling.
“The first time I heard the ‘Changes’ demo from Andrew, I got goosebumps,” he added. “I knew I had to be a part of it. And then Alina came in with those vocals… wow. It became something even bigger than we imagined.”
