Puerto Rican Parade and Competition brightly colours Roxbury streets

Tons of waved purple, white and blue flags alongside Roxbury streets and Franklin Park Sunday for the raucous annual Puerto Rican parade and competition.

The energetic 57th annual Puerto Rican Parade in Boston kicked off at midday, beginning on Columbus Avenue throughout from Roxbury Neighborhood School and winding by means of the neighborhood to finish on Piedmont Drive. The competition, which began on Saturday at 2 p.m., continued Sunday after the parade with distributors and performers filling Franklin Park.

The competition included meals, artisans, a Ferris Wheel and different rides and a well being truthful and featured quite a few artists from the Boston space and past performing music from hip hop to salsa.
