Rep. Jasmine Crockett Calls Out Trump For Attacking Reality About Slavery

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) referred to as out the Trump administration’s efforts to whitewash Black American historical past on social media Wednesday.

In a video posted to her official account on X, Crockett accused the Trump-aligned proper of intentionally obscuring the nation’s historical past of racial injustice.

“It seems like, there are certain people specifically on that side that anytime we want to discuss what has taken place as it relates to Black people and how they took our labor, how they took our lives, how they ruined families, they never want the truth to come out because it hurts their feelings,” she mentioned.

Crockett’s feedback had been in response to President Donald Trump’s newest criticism of the Smithsonian Establishment for, as he put it, focusing an excessive amount of on “how bad Slavery was.” In a Tuesday submit on Reality Social, Trump labeled the Smithsonian “the last remaining segment of WOKE” in America.

She continued to say that Trump “is a guy that is trying to do everything that he can to repeat it.”

Crockett emphasised that the U.S. resides by what she referred to as a “modern-day civil rights fight,” pointing to historic voting rights efforts led by Texans — together with the signing of the Voting Rights Act — in addition to the risks of present makes an attempt to restrict voting entry.

“The fight in which there was a Texan who signed the Voting Rights Act into law because of these literacy tests and because of Jim Crow,” she acknowledged.

The congresswoman went on to level out Trump’s latest assaults on Individuals’ voting rights as they pertain to mail-in ballots. But Black people are survivors. We are the ones that made sure we got through the Underground Railroad. We are the ones that made sure that somehow we went from slavery to the White House,” she mentioned.

She ended with a declaration, “We will tell our stories regardless of what [Trump] does.”
