Shanghai Doom's New Album "Danger Console" is Chaos Engineered to Precision

Shanghai Doom is sonically exploring the stress of a world on edge: risky, unstable, and totally charged. 

Their new album, Hazard Console, options eleven experimental tracks “based around the theme of a power overload,” the artists said in a press launch shared with EDM.com.

Traversing quite a lot of sounds and tempos, the album delivers gritty, ominous vitality grounded in low-end stress. A number of the highlights embody “Massive,” which flexes jagged textures which might be each stunning and brutal in equal measure. “Berserkers” is designed to disorient, channeling a heavy dose of primal rigidity. Elsewhere on the album, razor-sharp depth unfolds in “Mad Ting,” which hits like a glitch in actuality.

“It’s a lot of work, but the best part about an album is being able to take the listener on a journey and showcase a variety of styles,” says the duo in an unique dialog with EDM.com. “Originally, it was a couple of separate EPs, and we noticed a common theme between the songs, so we began formulating an album around it.”

“We, as a group, have a few different sound design zones and musical styles we tap into, so it was fun to see common themes emerge between the tracks. I love how this album plays out to start to finish, and the overarching story and chaos is always my favorite stuff to play out live.”

Shanghai Doom kicked off their Hazard Console tour at Past Wonderland final month. They’re going to make stops in Indianapolis, Brooklyn, Charleston, and extra this summer time.
