Thursday’s highschool roundup/scores: High-seeded Lexington nips Winchester in women tennis battle

Kyra McCandless, Mia McCandless and Phoebe Jiang swept their singles matches in straight units as No. 1 Lexington (23-0) superior to the Div. 1 state women tennis semifinals with a 3-2 win over Middlesex League rival Winchester.

The eighth-seeded Purple and Black (16-4) gained each doubles as Nora Dunn/Andrea Bilic and Siena Pierce gained their matches in straight units.

Boys tennis

No. 1 St. John’s Prep (20-0) continued its dominance, rolling to a 5-0 win over No. 8 Acton-Boxboro in a Div. 1 state quarterfinal. John DeAngelis, Jack Prokopis and Lule Free gained their matches in two units, whereas the 2 doubles crew of Luke Prokopis/Boris Kouzminov and Mark McDuffie/Alex Melville surrendered simply 4 video games of their one-sided wins.
