To his dismay, President Donald Trump didn’t obtain the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize — that honor went to Venezuelan opposition chief María Corina Machado — and used the second to criticize former President Obama’s previous win.
Whereas on the White Home on Friday, a reporter talked about Obama’s win to Trump, and, true to kind, he didn’t maintain again.
“He got a prize for doing nothing,” Trump mentioned. “Obama got a prize… He didn’t even know what he got. He got elected and they gave it to Obama for doing absolutely nothing, but destroying our country.”
Trump went on to say that Obama was “not a good president,” after which added that the “worst president was Sleepy Joe Biden.”
Throughout Friday’s broadcast of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Kimmel aired a montage of clips exhibiting Trump repeating his criticism of Obama’s win. He then riffed on Trump’s not-so-subtle “campaigning” for the award — and mentioned a current headline from Norway, the place officers had been reportedly bracing for backlash from Trump.
“Norway braces for Trump’s reaction if he does not win the Nobel Peace Prize,” Kimmel learn. “That’s not a headline from ‘The Onion,’ that’s real. The government of Norway is scared he might punish them — that he might declare them an enemy for not giving him the Nobel Peace Prize.”
When Machado was knowledgeable of her win, the Venezuelan politician had an emotional and gracious response.
“Oh my God. Well, I have no words,” Machado mentioned in the course of the name with Kristian Berg Harpviken, director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute. “Thank you so much, but I hope you understand that this is a movement — an achievement of the whole society. I am just one person. I certainly do not deserve this.”
