Two individuals are useless after a small plane crashed onto a freeway in southern Massachusetts earlier than bursting into flames.
In line with police, the airplane crashed round 8:15 a.m. on Monday after touchdown on the median of I-195 in Dartmouth. The crash, police say, led to a “fire on the ground.” It seems the airplane might have been trying to land, in keeping with an early morning launch from the Massachusetts State Police.
“Preliminary information indicates the plane may have been attempting to land at New Bedford Regional Airport, though it does not appear that the pilot provided the Airport with a flight plan or the number of souls aboard the aircraft,” the MSP stated of their launch.
MassDOT officers took to social media to announce closure of I-195 westbound and restrictions on the eastbound facet.
“In #Dartmouth, I-195 westbound is closed at exit 19 due to plane crash. Left lane closure also in place on I-195 eastbound,” they wrote.
The state police say they haven’t any info relating to the identities of the deceased or the variety of folks on board. The Bristol County State Police Detective Unit, Crime Scene Companies Part, and Discipline Companies have been on scene Monday morning alongside first responders from New Bedford.
