US Marshals arrest 60 in sweeping Massachusetts fugitive operation

The U.S. Marshals Service says it nabbed 60 violent fugitives — together with these accused of homicide and youngster sexual abuse — throughout Massachusetts during the last month in an operation it calls “Operation No Safe Harbor.”

“The expertise of the U.S. Marshals fugitive apprehension capability is unmatched, as evidenced by the success of Operation No Safe Harbor,” stated Performing U.S. Marshal for Massachusetts Kevin Neal. “We hunted down the worst of the worst — murderers, rapists and child molesters — and as a result, communities across Massachusetts are safer.”

Amongst these arrested within the surge is a fugitive wished by the Fitchburg Police for stabbing final week, a fugitive present in Littleton wished in North Carolina on prices of taking indecent liberties with a minor whereas being the kid’s guardian, a fugitive present in Boston who is needed in Maryland for strangling a lady whereas raping her, and a fugitive present in Boston who is needed in Ohio for allegedly beating a 2-year-old youngster to loss of life.

That’s along with quite a few different fugitives charged with homicides, drug crimes and weapons violations.

The operation happened within the Bay State from Aug. 25 by way of Sept. 17, in accordance with the company, and was part of a bigger initiative known as “Operation Take Back America.”

That operation was introduced by the Division of Justice in March.

The DOJ says the intentions are to rally member businesses of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Activity Forces (OCDETF) to “address the Justice Department’s core enforcement priorities: stopping illegal immigration, eliminating Cartels and TCOs (Transnational Criminal Organizations), and ending illegal trafficking of dangerous drugs and human beings,” in accordance with a department-wide March 6 memo authored by Deputy Lawyer Normal Todd Blanche.

Federal legislation enforcement businesses listed as members of the OCDETF embody all U.S. Lawyer’s workplace; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF); the Drug Enforcement Administration; the FBI; the Marshals Service; the businesses below the Division of Homeland Safety: ICE, Homeland Safety Investigations, the Coast Guard, the Secret Service; the Inner Income Service’s Legal Investigations bureau; the Postal Service’s Inspection Service bureau; the Workplace of the Inspector Normal; the Bureau of Diplomatic Safety; and OCDETF-funded state and native legislation enforcement businesses.

Neal stated the success of the focused operation “is a testament to the hard-working deputies and task force officers of America’s first federal law enforcement agency, the U.S. Marshals Service. Here in the District of Massachusetts we will continue to support Operation Take Back America through ongoing our fugitive apprehension efforts and supporting our law enforcement partners in reducing violent crime across the state.”

It is a growing story.
