The Boston TV anchor departures simply gained’t cease.
WBZ’s Kate Merrill, a longtime staple on the native TV station, has reportedly give up after greater than 20 years with the outlet on Troopers Area Highway.
Many viewers have questioned the place Merrill has been in latest weeks. On Monday, the station confirmed that Merrill is now not with WBZ.
“Kate Merrill has decided to leave CBS Boston/WBZ,” the station stated in an announcement to the Herald. “We wish her the best.”
The Globe first reported the information.
“Kate has decided to move on from WBZ,” the corporate stated. “Thanks for the inquiry. We value our loyal viewers.”
Merrill didn’t instantly reply to the Herald about leaving WBZ.
Merrill’s departure comes after her co-anchor on the morning present, Liam Martin, not too long ago left WBZ and the TV trade.
Martin stated he wished to have a greater work-family stability, and he joined a Boston public relations company.
When Martin left WBZ, the station celebrated him with a goodbye section on air, together with items. There was no such section for Merrill.
The station did not too long ago rejoice Merrill in March for her 20 years at WBZ.
“We are celebrating a very big milestone this morning,” Breana Pitts stated throughout the section in March.
“This is so amazing you guys,” Merrill stated after being shocked. “I can’t even believe it.”
“You are such a leader in our newsroom,” Pitts stated of Merrill. “You’re a mentor. You’re an even better friend, mom, journalist. We’re so lucky to have you.”
Merrill choked up. “I love you guys,” she stated.
