Democratic Govs. Tim Walz (Minn.) and Gavin Newsom (Calif.) are having a discipline day at President Donald Trump’s expense.
Trump was stymied by a malfunctioning escalator and teleprompter throughout his go to to the United Nations on Tuesday.
“These are the two things I got from the United Nations — a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter,” he complained throughout his speech.
White Home press secretary Karoline Leavitt later expressed her frustration with how issues unfolded.
“If someone at the U.N. intentionally stopped the escalator as the President and First Lady were stepping on, they need to be fired and investigated immediately,” Leavitt wrote on X, previously Twitter.
Leavitt was referencing hypothesis that U.N. staffers had “joked” about tampering with each the elevators and escalators forward of Trump’s arrival. Nevertheless it was later reported that the glitches could have been attributable to Trump’s personal videographer and gear.
Leavitt’s name for firings and an investigation didn’t fairly land as supposed, as Walz and Newsom seized the chance to mock the press secretary with a wholesome dose of sarcasm.
“Not only do they need to be fired, they need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Walz sarcastically wrote on X. “It’s a miracle the President ever made it up the stairs.”
Moments later, Newsom chimed in along with his personal model of snark in response to the technical glitches that plagued Trump.
“DOZY DON WAS DEFEATED BY THE ESCALATOR, POOR GUY!” Newsom wrote in mimicry of Trump’s basic all-caps format. “THE ENTIRE WORLD IS LAUGHING AT THE LOW IQ ‘PRESIDENT.’ NEXT STOP: THE BEST ROOM AT MEMORY MEADOWS RETIREMENT RESORT. TYLENOL INCLUDED. ENJOY YOUR STAY, DON! — GCN.”
In his submit, Newsom doubled down on his claims that Trump is displaying indicators of dementia — in addition to referencing the president’s current unproven declare that Tylenol is linked to autism in kids.
