Man Ritchie is ready to direct all eight episodes of Prime Video’s Younger Sherlock sequence, with Hero Fiennes Tiffin as Sherlock Holmes
Deadline stories that Hero Fiennes Tiffin of the After movie sequence has signed on to star within the Younger Sherlock sequence that has been ordered by Prime Video – and to clear up any potential confusion earlier than it may come up: no, this isn’t a sequence reboot or continuation of the 1985 movie Younger Sherlock Holmes, which got here to us from director Barry Levinson, screenwriter Chris Columbus, and producer Steven Spielberg. Quite, that is an adaptation of the Younger Sherlock sequence of novels that writer Andrew Lane began writing in 2010. That sequence was a response to the success Charlie Higson was having along with his sequence of Younger James Bond novels. Man Ritchie is on board to direct and government produce all eight episodes of Younger Sherlock‘s first season. Ritchie, of course, has prior Sherlock Holmes experience, having directed Robert Downey Jr. as the iconic character in the 2009 film Sherlock Holmes and its 2011 sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Since this series is an adaptation of Lane’s work, it’s in all probability not linked to Ritchie’s films.
Written and government produced by showrunner Matthew Parkhill (Deep State), Younger Sherlock is claimed to be an irreverent, action-packed origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in an explosive re-imagining of this iconic character. At age 19, Sherlock Holmes is disgraced, uncooked, unfiltered, and unformed, when he finds himself caught up in a homicide thriller at Oxford College which threatens his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of self-discipline, Sherlock manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that can change his life eternally.
Ritchie supplied the next assertion: “In Younger Sherlock we’re going to see an exhilarating new model of the detective everybody thinks they know in a method they’ve by no means imagined earlier than. We’re going to crack open this enigmatic character, discover out what makes him tick, and learn the way he turns into the genius all of us love.“
Simon Kelton, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Maxwell, Dhana Gilbert, Colin Wilson, and Marc Resteghini function government producers with Parkhill. Harriet Creelman is co-executive producer.
Vernon Sanders, head of tv at Amazon MGM Studios, had this to say: “This thrilling, new chapter about one of many world’s best-known literary characters, will delight our international prospects with its charming storytelling. With the sensible artistic crew, led by Man Ritchie and Matthew Parkhill, we’ll discover untold mysteries of how younger Sherlock discovered his technique to a lifetime of truth-seeking.“
