Kayzo and Scarlxrd See the World By way of Damaged Glass in Searing Single, "Eyes Wide Xpen"

Date:

Kayzo and Scarlxrd‘s new single, “Eyes Wide Xpen,” is not comfy—it is a livid excavation of the buried truths we select to disregard.

A punishing mix of metallic, hip-hop and lure music, the monitor rips open like a ruptured artery, Kayzo’s bass a barbed-wire riff twisting via Scarlxrd’s snarling verses. The latter’s lyrics are jagged hooks, every syllable laced with a bitter fact about society’s decay.

Concurrently invigorating and unsettling, Scarlxrd’s claustrophobic verses provide a superbly abrasive exploration of the human situation’s darker recesses. To that finish, the music is a primal scream that calls for to be heard amidst the noise of the trendy world, a hellscape of technological alienation and emotional desolation.

Kayzo crafts a melody akin to a rusted razor scraping in opposition to bone, a brutal counterpoint to the hollowness uncovered by Scarlxrd’s tormented vocals. It is clear that the beloved producer, who not too long ago tore up EDC Las Vegas alongside a stay band, stays fascinated by nu-metal’s potential to push dance music to its most manic ranges.
